These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Sibyl Private Limited (“Sibyl”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) and govern your access to and use of the DuesPaid mobile application and related services (“DuesPaid” or the “App”).
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account or using DuesPaid, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1Who we are
DuesPaid is operated by Sibyl Private Limited, a company incorporated in Singapore. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, govern your use of the App.
2Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use DuesPaid. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you may use DuesPaid only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. By using DuesPaid, you represent that you meet these requirements, that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and that you are not barred from using the App under any applicable law.
3Your account
- You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it up to date.
- Authentication is handled by our provider, Clerk. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us promptly at dpo@duespaid.app if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
- You may hold one account for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not share or transfer your account.
4The service
DuesPaid provides a study timer with periodic attention checks, points and streaks, focus scores, leaderboards, a social feed, follows, comments, and a points-based rewards programme. We are continually improving DuesPaid and may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time. DuesPaid is provided for your personal study and motivation; it is not a substitute for professional, educational, or medical advice, and we do not guarantee any particular academic outcome.
5Session integrity & fair use
DuesPaid’s value depends on honest study tracking. You agree not to:
- circumvent, automate, script, or otherwise falsify attention checks, timers, sessions, focus scores, or any part of the study mechanics;
- use bots, emulators, modified clients, or automation to generate sessions, points, or streaks; or
- exploit bugs, glitches, or errors to gain points, rewards, or leaderboard standing you would not otherwise earn.
We may void sessions, adjust or remove points and streaks, reset leaderboard standing, or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe have engaged in such conduct.
6Points & rewards
- No monetary value. Points are a feature of the App for tracking and motivation. They are not money, currency, or property, have no cash value, and cannot be purchased, sold, transferred, exchanged for cash, or redeemed except as expressly offered in the App. You hold a limited, personal, revocable licence to use points within DuesPaid.
- Adjustments. We may award, withhold, expire, adjust, or revoke points at our reasonable discretion — for example, to correct errors, reflect voided or failed sessions, or address fraud or abuse.
- Rewards. Points may be redeemed for rewards such as vouchers offered by third-party merchants. Rewards are subject to availability and to the issuing merchant’s terms, and vouchers may have expiry dates. The merchant — not Sibyl — is responsible for the goods or services provided. We may change or discontinue the rewards catalogue at any time.
- No purchases. DuesPaid does not sell points and contains no in-app purchases or real-money transactions.
7Your content & licence
You retain ownership of the content you create in DuesPaid — your posts, comments, notes, profile information, and avatar (“Your Content”). You grant Sibyl a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display Your Content solely to operate, provide, and improve DuesPaid (for example, showing your posts in others’ feeds and on leaderboards according to your settings). This licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for copies retained in routine backups for a limited period or as required by law. You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not violate these Terms or any law or third-party right.
8Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- post or share content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
- harass, bully, stalk, or harm other users;
- spam, advertise, or use DuesPaid for unauthorised commercial purposes;
- upload viruses or malicious code, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the App, other accounts, or our systems;
- reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or copy DuesPaid except as permitted by law; or
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of DuesPaid.
9Moderation, reporting & blocking
You can report posts, comments, or users that you believe violate these Terms, and you can block other users. We may — but are not obliged to — review, moderate, remove, or restrict content, and suspend or terminate accounts, at our discretion. We are not responsible for content posted by users, and views expressed by users are their own.
10Our intellectual property
DuesPaid — including the App, its software, design, the “DuesPaid” name, logos, and other branding — is owned by Sibyl and its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use DuesPaid in accordance with these Terms. We reserve all rights not expressly granted. You may not use our name, logos, or branding without our prior written permission.
11Third-party services
DuesPaid relies on third-party services, including Clerk (authentication), Convex (backend and hosting), Expo, Apple, and Google. Your use of features provided through these services may be subject to their respective terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services. Rewards fulfilled by merchants are subject to those merchants’ terms.
12Apple App Store terms
The following applies if you download DuesPaid from the Apple App Store. These Terms are concluded between you and Sibyl only, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the App, and any claims relating to the App (including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, and consumer-protection claims) are the responsibility of Sibyl, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for addressing any third-party intellectual-property claims relating to the App. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated a “terrorist-supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
13Disclaimers
DuesPaid is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that data (including points, streaks, or session records) will always be accurate or preserved, or that the App will meet your expectations. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
14Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sibyl and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or study progress, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) DuesPaid. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to DuesPaid will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us to use DuesPaid in the 12 months before the claim (which, for a free app, is typically zero) or one hundred Singapore dollars (SGD 100). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
15Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sibyl from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of DuesPaid, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any law or third-party right.
16Suspension & termination
You may stop using DuesPaid and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the App. On termination, your right to use DuesPaid ends; provisions that by their nature should survive — including the content licence (to the extent of backups), intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law — will survive.
17Changes to the service & these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice. Changes are effective when posted (or on a later stated date). Your continued use of DuesPaid after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the App and delete your account.
18Governing law & disputes
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to DuesPaid, are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in your country of residence.
19General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Sibyl regarding DuesPaid and supersede any prior agreements.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
